NGC 6992

The Eastern Veil Nebula is a vast supernova remnant located in the constellation Cygnus, approximately 2,500 light-years from Earth. The Veil Nebula formed when a massive star reached the end of its life in a catastrophic supernova between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago. The striking colors revealed in the astrophotography arise from different energized elements, with the red hues produced primarily by glowing hydrogen and the blue and cyan tones originating from oxygen emissions.
